Independent schools educate the whole child and athletics is an important part of that. The WIS community has aggressively pursued sports opportunities that make sense for its students. Spring 2009 led to the formation of a running club led by teacher Marie Sumnicht and Parent Wesley Garner. Students trained daily and many ran in the Cellcom Children's Run as well as the Bellin Run.
Our first interscholastic sports team was introduced in the second year of our school's history. The Cross Country Team, including students in grades 5-7, and led by coach Marie Sumnicht, competed with other middle school teams in Brown County.
Intramural Team Tennis and participation in the Bay Area Nordic Ski Club generated much interest in the WIS student body as well.
A WIS Athletics Task Force has been formed in 2009 to look at further expansion of WIS' participation in intramural and interscholastic sports.
