Stanley W. Way
Head of School

I would love to share with you more about what an exceptional choice Wisconsin International School (WIS) will be for your children’s education. As parents, we must recognize that each of our children has many talents, unique interests and varied educational needs. Finding a school that matches our children's needs is a critical choice for parents. WIS will bring together caring, engaged teachers and staff, an unmatched curriculum, and a special vision to create Brown County's first independent school.

With our small class size, our teachers will get to know your children very well. Beyond imparting their academic skills, our teachers will engage your children in fostering the growth of each one as a whole person. As independent school educators, our expectations will stretch and challenge each individual to his or her best. Additionally, we will model integrity, compassion, service, and caring, values that will be both explicit and implicit in our school. In sum, our teachers are committed and will make a difference. Implementing the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program (PYP) , and drawing on Core Knowledge units, our academic program will equip children with the tools in math, literature, sciences, history, languages, technology, and fine arts to be the thinkers, writers, mathematicians, and community leaders of our world. It will be developmentally appropriate, ensuring academic growth and healthy social and emotional development. Our IB PYP will be interdisciplinary and active. WIS students will begin studying a foreign language from preschool, making it second nature to be a global citizen. The success that our students find in this environment will foster them in becoming self-motivated, confident, ethically aware individuals prepared to meet the challenges of education at the secondary and university levels. The academics will not stop at the end of the school day. WIS will offer an active after-school program to enrich the learning gained in the classroom.

All students from the youngest to the oldest will engage in community service projects, such as selling banana bread to sponsor a gorilla or recycling all of the school's paper to fund gifts for low-income children or collecting medical supplies for a village clinic on the other side of the world. Moreover, the PYP fosters an international perspective in its students, who gain an appreciation for the views of others from diverse cultures, religions and nations.

Independent schools like WIS are built on a partnership with parents. Through conversations with the teacher, emails, or weekly newsletters, our parents will follow the progress of their children and participate in a dialogue with the teachers enhancing the educational experience for their children. Ours will be a school community where parents contribute to the quality of the WIS experience by actively supporting the school and classroom activities. All in all, a culture of respect and partnership among students, parents and faculty will be the basis of our school community.

With more than twenty-five years of elementary and middle school teaching and administrative experience, I will draw on my educational knowledge to bring the very best ideas to WIS. I am committed to global citizenship as shown by my service in American international schools in South America, Europe, the Middle East and Africa. My leadership style is one of building trust, which I accomplish by listening, by taking steps with calm resolve and by being accountable to the students and families we will be serving. Independent schools build and maintain their reputations on their academically challenging curriculum, exceptional faculty and staff, and special offerings of their school.

I am thrilled to be coming to Green Bay to help found your community’s first independent school. Please join us at an upcoming parent meeting. I look forward to meeting you.

Sincerely,

Stanley W. Way
