Board President
October 2007
Dear Parents:
The fall of 2007 was a very busy time for the WIS Board of Directors, and that hard work has paid off! We are confident we will have a successful opening in September of this year. With the beginning of the New Year, WIS also has some new and important information. The most exciting news is the announcement of our new Head of School, Stanley Way. Stanley comes to us from Ohio where he has spent the last 7 years as the Associate Head of School for Lake Ridge Academy. Mr. Way also has experience as a middle school and K-8 director, teacher, and curriculum development coordinator, and a veteran of the International Baccalaureate program. Stanley has been in the field of education for almost 30 years and has directed schools and taught in such places as Zaire, Poland, Belgium, Egypt, Denmark, Copenhagen, Maryland, and Ohio. His educational background includes a double major in Elementary Education and Latin American studies from Penn State University (with high honors) as well as a Master’s Degree in Public Relations from Rowan University. Stanley is married to Anne Way, also a teacher with a Master’s Degree in curriculum development. The Ways have 2 adult children. Stanley was chosen from a pool of national and international candidates all with independent, college-preparatory experience. We are very excited to have such an experienced, enthusiastic, and well-qualified leader at WIS.
Fundraising has also begun and WIS had its first successful fundraiser in December. Andrew and Lisa Brandt hosted an evening of music performed by violinist Wayne Lin. All the proceeds from this event will be used to purchase musical equipment and other materials for the fine arts department. Thank you to the Brandts for such an enjoyable evening.
We will be holding our first of many Parent Informational Meetings the evening of February 12 and mid-day February 13. We strongly encourage parents that are interested in WIS to attend one of these meetings. Most questions will be answered at this time and you will have an opportunity to meet our Head of School – Stanley Way. More information about those meetings will be forthcoming when the location is confirmed.
On our website effective January 23rd, you will be able to download Admissions and Teacher Evaluation Forms and a Transcript Request. These forms will need to be submitted to Wisconsin International School to be considered for admission into WIS. Although there is not a deadline for these forms, we strongly encourage families to submit them at your earliest convenience. Applications will be processed in the order in which they are received.
All of this information is just a taste of things to come. We have updated our website www.wisinternationalschool.com with much of this information. Please review the website often for more exciting news from WIS!
With warm regards,
Sandi Van Den Heuvel
