My Teaching Philosophy:
The longer I teach, the more I am convinced of the need for students to learn through discovery. Therefore, I strive to create a learning environment that engages every student and promotes independent reading, writing, and thought. Meanwhile, I help students connect new ideas and information to prior knowledge. This approach fosters a deeper understanding of the new material. My role is to guide the process, encourage, pose new questions, and push students to grow in their thinking and abilities. Throughout, I strive to promote critical thinking, questioning, teamwork, respect, and “resource-thinking” – I consider these skills absolutely vital to each student’s success beyond my classroom.
